Frequently Asked Questions

Can I attend your meetup?

Of course! London Longboard Girls sessions are open to women, including anyone who identifies as female. We welcome skaters of all ages, however anyone under the age of 18 needs to be accompanied by a guardian over the age of 18.

What do you get up to during meetups?

Our meetups vary each month (we like to keep things interesting!). Typically, they are ideal for beginners and offer plenty of opportunities to connect with other skaters. Some months, we might switch things up and host a friendly community competition, a cruise around London, or a visit to our local pump track.

Do I need any prior experience to join the meetup?

No - no prior experience is required. Beginners are not just welcome, they are celebrated! We welcome skaters of all skill levels at all of our meetups.

When and where are meetups held?

The date and location of our monthly meetups vary. Following our Instagram page is the best way to stay in the loop!

  • We can provide a spare longboard for our monthly meetups, upon request. Make sure you message us ahead of time if you’re hoping to borrow a board. We recommend that you bring your own protections, if you’re going to use some.

If you’re yet to buy your own longboard or dancing board - how exciting! Don’t rush and buy the first board you find. We’re happy to offer advice and recommendations to ensure you love your new board!

  • Bring your own longboard, and positive attitude! We also highly recommend protective gear (pads and a helmet) for safety.

It’s always a good idea to bring these extra items with you:

    • Plenty of water

    • Snacks

    • Sunscreen

    • First aid kit

    • A hat

    • Comfortable clothes to skate in

    • Flat soles shoes

    • Any skate tool or spares you might need (bushings, T-tool, …)

  • You’ll notice that we specify a start time for our meetups. We know that life can get in the way, but we encourage you to arrive on time to be part of our welcome circle and meet other skaters before we kick off.

If you’re hoping to attend our longboard workshops, arriving late means it could be difficult to catch up as you’ll miss the progression towards more advanced moves.

  • London’s weather sometimes disrupts our plans for outdoor meetups. In the event of bad weather, we may postpone an outdoor meetup, or move to an indoor spot.

Keep an eye on our Instagram page for any last-minute updates.

  • Absolutely! We love seeing our longboard community grow and encourage you to invite friends who share an interest in longboarding.

We are family and kid-friendly, just keep in mind that anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian over the age of 18 at all times, and you will be responsible for your child’s safety.

  • If our community isn’t for you but you’d still like to be part of a London-based longboard community, check out @londonlongboards and @docksessionuk. We skate with London Longboards and Dock Session regularly, and sometimes host events together.

For UK-wide women longboard events, check out @longboardgirlscrewuk.
